Looking Back on 1L
The first year of law school asks you to grow in ways you do not always expect, and this year gave me plenty of practice.
My first year at Penn State Dickinson Law was a rewarding journey. I built community, expanded my legal knowledge, and grew through new challenges I did not always see coming.
I was elected 1L Representative to the Student Bar Association and served on the SBA Budget Committee. I also took on the same role for the Black Law Students Association, where I contributed to the monthly newsletters throughout the year.
Outside of student government, I was awarded a scholarship from the ABA Standing Committee on Law and National Security to attend the 34th Annual Review of the Field of National Security Law in Washington, D.C. I was appointed Chair of the SBA DEIA Committee and hosted a campus wide mosaic art event, and I competed in the 1L Mock Trial Competition with a team I am still grateful for.
I am headed into the summer as a legal intern with Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and I am excited to keep learning and growing.
