Black Alumni Weekend at UVA
Returning to Grounds for Black Alumni Weekend.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of revisiting my alma mater, the University of Virginia, for Black Alumni Weekend. I enjoyed connecting with alumni from different decades and current students, hearing stories of growth and joy alongside the hardships that came before.
It was inspiring to see how the Black experience at UVA has progressed over time, and I left feeling encouraged and unified as a new member of the Black Alumni community.
The weekend closed with an event hosted by the Organization of African Students, “Africa Day 2024: Diámóndi,” which showcased the vibrant culture and history of the African diaspora through music, fashion, dance, and food. It was an unforgettable celebration of diversity.
